Patshull Activity Centre Annual Update

Patshull Activity Centre recently sent us their annual update. They offer an amazing facility that serves the whole community. Supporting the Patshull Activity Centre at the Patshull Park estate is a fabulous community venture we’re really happy to support.

Site Security

We’re really pleased to announce that the Mercer family have agreed a new lease with the Activity Centre, this will ensure their future is secure at Patshull until at least December 2040!

This ensures site security and allows for the implementation of long-term plans to enhance the site and its facilities.

“An absolutely massive thank you to the Mercer family – this means so much to us. Thank you for your friendship, support and helping us cement our future for years to come.” Patshull Activity Centre Management

If you’ve visited recently you’ll know how good it is already, so it’s going to be amazing, and we can’t wait to see what’s next. If you haven’t been recently and you want to visit, bookings are open until March 2025 patshull.org.uk/onlinebookings

2023 – What a Year

The Scouts have been on the Patshull estate since 1912, you can read our article on their story here.

Since the start of January 2023, Patshull Activity Centre has worked with young people (and their leaders) from a variety of voluntary-based youth organisations, resulting in:

  • 4822 overnight stays (which is an average of 92 one night / 46 two night stays every week!)
  • 2418 participants taking part in our activities

This means that these young people have benefited from around 173,592 hours of no game’s consoles, limited mobile telephone reception, and simply enjoying the outdoors within beautiful and safe surroundings!

Refurbishments

100% of the income generated is continually put back into Patshull Activity Centre. 2023 has seen major refurbishments take place and more to come throughout 2024:

  • Refurbishment of Golf House, including installing improved insulation, replacing electrical wiring and upgrading to LED lighting to improve efficiency
  • Refurbishment of Barn (Classroom), including installing insulation, installing a central heating system, replacing electrical wiring and upgrading to LED lighting to improve efficiency
  • Installation of Lakeside Activity Building which will house our Kayaking and Raft Building equipment (with these activities available from May 2024), the addition of a new indoor Tomahawk Axe Throwing Range and Bouldering / Traverse Wall (Both coming soon!)
  • Addition of Toilet Facilities on the Paddock camping area (opening Spring 2024)
  • Addition of a Climbing Wall in our High Ropes Activity Area (available from May 2024)
  • Upgraded archery and air rifle shooting equipment
  • Creation of additional volunteer accommodation to be able to provide more volunteers with overnight accommodation (Coming soon!)

The installation of a new tarmac track that leads (almost) all the way to the site has been met with great enthusiasm! Gone are the days of the rough and uneven track that left a lasting impression on many visitors.

Volunteers

The Centre is always looking for new volunteers and are now offering free training:

  • Activity Instructors (and Youth Activity Instructors for those aged 16 year plus)
  • Service Team Members – this can be anything from specialist trades, labouring, those budding DIY’ers, general site maintenance and/or cleaning or even gardening jobs for those greener fingered (and Youth Service Team Members for those aged 16 year plus)
  • Helping to staff the on-site shop
  • Or even becoming a Duty Warden (being the person responsible for the site on a designated weekend, welcoming customers and giving them an introduction to the site explaining what to expect and what we expect of them).

If you would like to be a member of the volunteering team, please email joe@patshull.org.uk.

FREE Activity Instructor Courses are available (from archery, belaying, kayaking, and more!), follow their Facebook page for course information.

We’re confident Patshull Activity Centre will continue to expand and thrive, serving young people everywhere.
