Trainee Pig Farmer of the Year Awards

We’re incredibly proud to announce that our apprentice stockwoman Emily Ward has been named runner-up Trainee Pig Farmer of the Year as part of the Pfiser Pig and Poultry Trainee Awards 2011.

2011 has been a fantastic year for us with three awards already under our belt, so Emily’s accolade is the icing on the cake!

Emily attended the awards ceremony at the House of Commons with her parents and farm owner Rob Mercer on November 1st. She has only been with us for a year, but in that time she’s proved what an important member of the team she is, and we’re so pleased to see her getting the recognition she deserves with this award.

Animal welfare is paramount to what we do and we really believe that animals that have lived a healthy and happy life will produce the best meat. Having members of staff like Emily makes maintaining these high-quality welfare standards possible, and we hope that this is the first of many awards she wins with Packington Free Range.
