In today's modern and hectic society, too much emphasis is placed on speedy results and an ever-lower cost, regardless of the impact on animal welfare and the environment.
Passion Respect and Excellence
At Packington Free Range we firmly believe that what is good for the animals and the land will naturally be good for us and better for our customers. This is the philosophy of our great grandfather before us and we strongly believe it is the key to sustainable food, for the long term.
We all believe passionately in provenance, sustainable and ethical farming which fuels our drive to create an environmentally sound and welfare orientated farm, which will allow us to continue to farm the land here for generations to come.
Our respect is not only reserved for our livestock. All of our land Packington Free Range is in environmental schemes in partnership with Natural England. For example all of our fields have grass margins around them to protect hedgerows and encourage a safe environment for ecosystems to flourish. Many of our field corners are planted with wild bird seed mixes or pollen and nectar mixes to supply insects and farmland birds with vital food sources.
Giving Packington Free Range pigs and chickens large green and lush pastures to roam and time to mature is best for the animals and results in first class meat. This is not only recognised by our customers but has brought us recognition through many industry awards.
Our outdoor reared free range pigs are RSPCA Freedom Food accredited and Packington Free Range have been awarded the title of Producer of the Year in separate awards for both our pigs and chickens from Compassion In World Food. Even television presenters, The Hairy Bikers, have acknowledged our farm's caring ethos, describing Packington Free Range chickens as "some of the happiest in Britain!"
